Howdy! My name is Ethan M. Stone.
I am a writer with several degrees, strong thoughts about the world, and a penchant for storytelling. I help editorial teams, academics, and fellow creatives translate their ideas into writing that feels smart, grounded, and surprisingly easy to read.
My background is in creative writing, literary criticism, and conservation, and while I enjoyed my time writing for professors, I realized pretty quickly that I wanted to help people outside of academia bring their ideas to life too. These days, I work on long and short form articles, helping clients sound like themselves, but sharper.
People hire me when they’re stuck trying to sound credible without sounding stiff, or when they’ve got a million ideas and no time to shape them. What they get is writing that reads well, respects the audience, and actually delivers the message.
Outside of work, I’m usually playing TTRPGs, lounging with my cats, or reading a gothic novel. If you're into thoughtful writing that sounds crisp, clear, and comprehensible, I’d say we're probably a good fit.

My Approach to Writing
My work is shaped by the belief that good writing carries both clarity and care. I’m drawn to the space where complex thinking meets everyday language, and where structure helps meaning find its shape.
I believe that how something reads matters just as much as what it says. My goal is never to overinflate your writing or hide your ideas behind academic flourishes. I want your work to feel lived-in, confident, and genuinely yours.
And because that matters so much, it’s worth saying what I’m not. If you’re looking for writing that leans performative, overly corporate, or packed with buzzwords, I’m probably not the right fit.
At the end of the day, I’m here to help you express your ideas in a way that respects your voice and respects your audience. If that’s what you’re after, we’ll work well together.

Frequently Asked Questions

I mostly work on essays, articles, thought pieces, academic-driven content, narrative nonfiction, and research-backed writing. I also create website copy for science, education, and conservation projects. If your work lives somewhere between storytelling and analysis, I’m probably a good fit.
-
As involved as you want to be. Some people prefer a collaborative, back-and-forth approach, while others want to hand over their notes and let me take the lead. We’ll set expectations early so the process feels easy and comfortable for you.
-
No problem. Most clients start with a conversation where we talk through your goals, your timeline, and the type of writing you’re working on. From there, I’ll recommend the service that fits your project best, whether it’s editing, ghostwriting, research, or strategy.
-
Yes, absolutely. My background in creative writing, literary criticism, and conservation helps me translate complex topics into writing that feels approachable without oversimplifying. Whether your field is scientific, technical, or theory-heavy, I can help you shape the work so it’s clear and engaging.
-
Well, honestly that depends, do you want it to? Capturing the voice you want is a non-negotiable part of my process. Through conversations, samples, and your notes, I build a clear sense of the tone and rhythm you’re going for. The final piece should feel like you on your best writing day, not like you hired a stranger.
-
Revisions are always part of the process. After I deliver a draft or edit, you’ll have space to review, respond, and request changes. My goal is to make sure the work reflects your message and intentions, so we refine as needed until it feels right.
-
Probably not, and that’s intentional. If you need writing that sounds overly corporate, heavy on buzzwords, or catered strictly to SEO trends, I’m not the best choice. I’m the right fit if you want writing that is thoughtful, clear, genuine, and grounded in real ideas and human connection.
